In detail

1. Controller and scope

The controller is Soda Studios AG, Hohlstrasse 402, 8048 Zürich, Switzerland, hallo@crazyinlove.ch (“we”).

This privacy policy applies to the website crazyinlove.ch, to the Crazy in Love app with its account and editor, to the wedding websites created with it and to the connection with AI assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (DSG) and, where applicable, on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Visiting the website

When you visit crazyinlove.ch or the app, our server stores technical information sent by your browser: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the page visited before, browser and operating system. We need this information to deliver the pages and to protect them against attacks (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

From the IP address, we use a database on our own server to determine your country in order to show the right prices. No data is passed on in the process.

3. Cookies and analytics

We set technically necessary cookies for logging in and to protect against forged requests. Small settings, such as which AI assistant you last chose on the page, are stored in your browser.

On crazyinlove.ch and on the login and editor pages of the app, we use Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Ltd.). Through it we load Google Analytics, which shows us how visitors use our pages: which pages they visit, where they come from and which device they use. For this purpose Google Analytics sets cookies, shortens your IP address and may transfer data to the USA; with Google Signals, Google can link visits to people who are logged in to Google. We only load Google Analytics with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time. We do not use any analytics or advertising services on the wedding websites themselves.

4. Contact and support

If you write to us via the contact form or by email, we process your details in order to answer your request. Messages from the contact form are stored on our server. To protect against spam, Google reCAPTCHA (Google Ireland Ltd.) checks whether the form is being used by a human; for this, every page of crazyinlove.ch loads a script from Google that sends information about your browser and your behaviour on the page, as well as your IP address, to Google (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We handle support requests with GrooveHQ (Groove Networks, LLC, USA). We keep them for as long as necessary to handle them and to deal with any follow-up questions.

5. Account and wedding website

For your account, we store your names, your email address and your password, the latter only in encrypted form. For your website, we store what you enter: texts, photos, the date and venue of the wedding, settings, the wish list and, if you accept monetary gifts, your bank details. We need this data to perform our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

The website and its data are stored on servers of cyon in Switzerland, and uploaded files such as photos with Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt. Our staff only see your data where this is necessary for support or operations.

6. Payment and accounting

Payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland). You enter your card details directly with Stripe; we do not see them. We record payments and invoices in the accounting software bexio (bexio AG, Switzerland) and keep them for as long as the law requires (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

7. Emails

We send the emails of Crazy in Love via Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France): for example for registration and passwords, confirmations to guests and notifications to the couple about RSVPs and gifts.

8. AI functions in the editor

When you use an AI function, we transmit the data required for it to the respective provider:

  • Texts, translations, new blocks and wish lists: your instructions and the texts of your website concerned, to Anthropic (Anthropic, PBC, USA) with the Claude model.
  • Pictures: the title and description of a wish and the chosen drawing style, and for “Photo as a drawing” also the chosen photo, to OpenAI (USA).
  • Places: when the AI creates a block with a map, we look up the coordinates of the place with Mapbox (Mapbox, Inc., USA).

The providers do not use this data to train their models and store it only for a limited time, for example to detect misuse. We store the results with your website. You trigger every request yourselves; we process the data to perform the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Do not give the AI any sensitive information that it does not need for its task.

9. Connection with Claude or ChatGPT

When you connect Crazy in Love to Claude or ChatGPT, you log in with us via a secure connection (OAuth). The assistant receives an access key with which it can create, read and edit your website. What you write in the chat is processed by the respective provider, Anthropic or OpenAI, under its own responsibility and in accordance with its privacy policy. Only the information that the assistant transmits for your website reaches us.

10. Wedding websites and guests’ details

The couple is responsible for the content of a wedding website and for the details guests provide there: for the RSVP, for example, name, email address, acceptance or regrets, menu choice and intolerances; for the wish list, name, email address and amount. We process these details on behalf of the couple and only in order to operate the website: we store them, show them to the couple and send guests a confirmation by email. Information on allergies and intolerances is voluntary and serves only the couple’s planning. If you have questions about your details, please contact the couple first; we are happy to help as well.

If a website shows a map, your browser loads it from Mapbox (Mapbox, Inc., USA), which receives your IP address in the process. Embedded videos load from YouTube (Google Ireland Ltd., in privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo (Vimeo.com, Inc., USA). If the couple has their own domain, requests are routed via a server at DigitalOcean (DigitalOcean, LLC, USA). We deliver fonts and software libraries ourselves.

11. Error monitoring

To find errors, we use Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA). If an error occurs in the app, Sentry receives technical information such as the browser, the page requested and the error trace, and possibly also the IP address (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

12. Our service providers

  • cyon (cyon GmbH, Basel, Switzerland): hosting of the website and the app
  • Amazon Web Services (Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, Luxembourg; servers in Frankfurt): storage of uploaded files

The service providers process the data on our behalf and according to our instructions, with the exception of the providers of the AI assistants in the chat, who act under their own responsibility.

13. Transfers abroad

Some service providers are based in the USA or process data there. We only transfer data there if it is adequately protected: the recipient is certified under the EU-U.S. or Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or we have agreed with it on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses, which are also recognised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC/EDÖB).

14. How long we keep data

  • Wedding website and account: 18 months from activation, or longer if you agree on an extension. We then delete them together with all content and the guests’ details. You can delete them yourselves earlier at any time.
  • Trial websites that were never activated: we delete them if they have not been used for a longer period.
  • Earlier versions of your content: 31 days.
  • Backups: up to four months.
  • Data exports that you create in your account: until the following day.
  • Payments and invoices: ten years, as required by law.

15. Security

We transmit all data in encrypted form (HTTPS), store passwords only in encrypted form and give access only to those people who need it for their work.

16. Your rights

You can request access to your data, have it corrected or deleted, have its processing restricted, and object to its processing insofar as it is based on our legitimate interest. You can download your website in the editor under “Account › Export data”. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, write to us at hallo@crazyinlove.ch.

If you consider a processing operation to be unlawful, you can lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC/EDÖB) in Bern, edoeb.admin.ch. If you live in the EU, you can also contact the data protection authority of your country.

17. Changes

If Crazy in Love or the law changes, we will adapt this privacy policy. The version published here applies. See also our Terms and Conditions.
